Happy New Year Dames!

Today we celebrate the 59th birthday of Lord Craven Chapter.  On December 30, 1961, a group of ladies under the leadership of Jeannette Cox St Amand met in Wilmington and organized the new chapter of the Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, selecting the name Lord Craven, one of the Lords Proprietors.  Our thanks go to Mrs. St Amand and all those early ladies of Lord Craven Chapter for their foresight.

Thanks.

On September 19, 2020, The National Society North Carolina Colonial Dames 17th Century Lord Craven Chapter met for the first meeting at 10:00am at Belville Riverwalk in Leeland, NC. The Riverwalk Park is located opposite the Western banks of Eagles Island on the Brunswick River off SR133 in Belville NC. There was quite a breeze today with temperatures about 70 degrees and the winds were incredible. Jim McKee, site supervisor of Brunswick Town / Fort Anderson State Historic was the guest speaker today. He spoke of the "Expansion of the Southern Colonies after Jamestown."

Jim McKee holds the flags while the Lord Craven members say the Pledge of Allegiance.

Brunswick Riverwalk Veterans Memorial

September 19, 2020, The National Society North Carolina Colonial Dames 17th Century Lord Craven Chapter group met for our first meeting of the year at Bellville Riverwalk Park in Leeland. It was incredibly windy and cool that day which was a big change from the hazy, hot, and humid weather we had experienced all summer and even into September. As we walked to our meeting place we passed this beautiful memorial.

Wreaths Across America - Offering a 2 for 1 Purchase - Buy 1 Wreath Get a Second One for Free - Offer Ends January 15th. Let's Put a Wreath on Every Veteran's Grave at Wilmington National Cemetery in 2020. Read the Note Under the Photo for Directions on How to Purchase a Wreath On-Line or by Phone.

wreath match

Dear Dames,
I know you weren’t thinking about Wreaths Across America, but just for the next week, perhaps you should.  WAA has promised to match the number of wreaths we sponsor just through January 15th.  This will almost ensure all the graves at Wilmington National will be covered next Christmas.  This applies to all of the fundraising organizations, but as your President, I am most hopeful you will consider purchasing through Colonial Dames 17th Century Lord Craven Chapter.  You are in the blog,  click on the Wreaths Across America tab on the right-hand side.  When the next page comes up, click in the lower middle the website address in blue.  You will go directly to the WAA page for Colonial Dames 17C with our code number NC0008p.  I just did this and we have sold 0 wreaths so far.  Not unexpected of course.  But now that we know about the matching wreaths from WAA, we might just want to buy a couple.  January 15 is the last day of the matching deal. Each wreath costs. $15.00.

Thanks, ladies, and an early Merry Christmas to you!
