Board of Management Meeting Set for Saturday, August 17, 2019





Dear Lord Craven members,

I am very excited to serve as your Chapter President, 2019-2021.  We are looking forward to our meetings for 2019-2020, which will continue being held at Carolina Barbecue.  Vice President Diane Kuebert has planned some very interesting programs for this year, and we hope everyone will attend and participate in the work of our Chapter.

Dale Spencer, our new Corresponding Secretary, will send information from me to you, and I may send notes directly to you as well.  Feel free to contact me to reply or comment anytime at cindysellers@ec.rr.com.  My contact phone number is my cell, 910-540-0301.

Attached are two items:  the latest news bulletin from our State President, Brooke S Jackson, and a newly revised list of NC Officers.

The date for our Fall Board of Management has been set for Saturday August 17, location tba.  The date for 2020 State Conference has been set for March 13-14, location tba.  All members are encouraged to attend state meetings!  The Board of Management meeting will be “a workshop format with lots of opportunities to learn and tools for chapter success.”

75th ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY LANDING AND THE BATTLE OF NORMANDY




Veterans returned to Normandy to salute the fallen. This year only a few dozen American D-Day veterans ( as they are all in their mid nineties or older ) returned to Normandy to honor the American troops who died in Europe during World War II. If you purchase a newspaper or google D-Day you will find lots of information.

President Sellers announced the next meeting will be Saturday, Sept.
21, 2019 at Carolina Bar-B-Que, at 11:30.  Details will follow.  The State Board of Management will  be Saturday, August 17th, the location and other information will be sent later.

May 18, 2019 Lord Craven Colonial Dames 17 Century Meeting


New Officers for 2019-2021 were sworn in by Marie Preston at the May 18,  2019 Lord Craven Colonial Dames 17th Century meeting, which was held at the Carolina BBQ in Wilmington, NC.

                              Marie Preston swore in the new officers at the Lord Craven Colonial Dames 17th Century meeting.

Lord Craven Colonial Dames 17C  member, Nora Hickam was the guest speaker during the May 2019 meeting. The program topic was, "the Lost State of Franklin." American Legion Post 543 will host the community's annual Memorial Day ceremony at 11:00 AM


American Legion Post 543 will host the community's annual Memorial Day ceremony at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 27, 2019 at the St. James Community Center, Southport, NC.  All local residents are invited. to attend. Colors will be presented by the Post Honor Guard, the National Anthem will be sung and a memorial wreath will be placed followed by Taps. Ms Lois Moore, will sing patriotic songs.

This year, the American Legion will perform the poignant POW/MIA Missing Man Table tableau as part of the larger ceremony.
