The Ninety-Ninth Annual Conference was held April 4-8, 2023 at the Hilton Arlington National Landing, Washington, DC. Pat Gooding and I were off and running to start our week of attending 3 different National Lineage Societies National Conferences. The first event for the start of the NSCDXVIIC National Conference was attending the Open House and Tea at Headquarters with a meet and greet. We attended the Registrar General’s Workshop, Conference Meetings, Awards Luncheon, Achievement Luncheon, Memorial Service, and the Banquets in the evening with fiddle music and the National Choir.
There have been some updates with the Registrar General regarding the process of sending in Applications and Supplementals. Please be in touch with our Registrar before submitting any supplementals for 2023.
The election of new National Officers for 2023-2025 was held with Yvonne Hiteshue from Ohio being elected President General and the first President General from Ohio. The new National Officers can be found on the National Website at The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century (colonialdames17c.org)
Zack Lemhouse, an accomplished musician with over 25 years of experience playing the violin was the guest speaker. Zack was inducted into the North Carolina Hall of Fame in 2020. Zack plays traditional Scottish fiddle music and teaches annually at the Jink and Dibble School of Scottish Fiddle, a Scottish Fiddle camp held in the mountains of North Carolina every summer. The music Zack played from his fiddle sounded as if he was playing the bagpipes.
