Once an apt headquarters for the Historic Wilmington Foundation - a non-profit aimed at preserving the city's rich architectural history - and now home to the City Club of Wilmington, the DeRosset house was once just that – the residence of doctor and merchant Armand John DeRosset III and his family. The Lord Craven May meeting for 2023 was held at The City Club in Wilmington, NC. Thank you Dale Spencer for making the arrangements.
Assistant Professor Tara White, Public Historian, and Educator at the University of NC Wilmington was our guest speaker. Her topic was the Gullah Geechee heritage. She has more than 20 years of training and experience in museums and historical organizations. Academic fields of speciation include public history, 20th-century US History with a focus on the history of the South, women's history, and African American History. She is a board member of the Black Belt American Genealogical and Historical Society; board member of the Alabama Historical Association; Alumni of Distinction SUNY Distinction; Chancellor's Awards for Academic Faculty for Teaching Excellence.
