The St James. American Legion Post 543 will hold the annual Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, November 11, 2019



The St James. American Legion Post 543 will hold the annual Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the St James Veterans Memorial next to the St James Town Hall. The ceremony will begin promptly at 11:00 am. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

The colors will be presented by the Post 543 Honor Guard. Patriotic music will be sung by Ms.Lois Moore. Each of the Service songs will be played on the bagpipes by Dennis Ryan as our veterans are recognized.

Our guest speaker this year will be Colonel Heather Carlisle, Commander of the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point. Colonel Carlisle was commissioned in the Army Transportation Corps and has served in a variety of command and staff assignments in her 24-year career. She has been stationed in numerous locations to include Hawaii, Alaska, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Pentagon. In August 2018 Colonel Carlisle assumed command of the 596th Transportation Brigade and Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point.

Seating will be provided. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place inside the St James Community Center.

The National Society North Carolina Colonial Dames 17th Century Lord Craven Chapter members Kathy Miller and Fran Carlsen, both residents of St. James Plantation attended the Veterans Day Event at St. James Plantation Community Center. Fran Carlsen, Army Veteran, and DAR member is shown signing her papers to become a member of the American Legion Post #543. Congratulations, Fran for becoming a member of American Legion Post #543.

The Lord Craven Chapter Colonial Dames 17th Century will meet at 11:30 a.m. November 16th at Carolina BBQ, 1602 S. College Road.   • 2020 Jan 15th - Deadline for chapter officers and chairmen to report to corresponding state officers and chairmen. 
  • Jan 15th – Deadline for NC State History Scholarship application packet sent by chapters to state chairman 
  • Feb 15th - All state officers and state chairmen report to corresponding national officers and chairmen. 
  • Feb 15th - Chapter presidents, chapter chairmen, state officers, and state chairmen write reports to be presented at state conference. 
  • Please EMAIL copies of your reports to the state president, state 2nd vice president, and state recording secretary.
