On July 4, 1776, the 13 colonies claimed their independence from England, an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States. Each year on the fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, Americans celebrate this historic event.
The American flag has been the symbol of our nation's strength and unity. It's been a source of pride and inspiration for millions of citizens.
The Star-Spangled Banner, long may it wave, over the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
On this same day the United States Army celebrates its birthday. Following Flag Day is Honor America Days, a 21-day period through to Independence Day (July 4) to honor America.
