North Carolina Society Colonial Dames XVII Century State Conference


North Carolina Society Colonial Dames XVII Century State Conference was held on March 3-4, 2017 at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons, 3121 High Point Road in Greensboro, NC. Committee meetings were held on Friday morning, while the conference was held Friday afternoon and Saturday. A Memorial Service was held honoring deceased members, and new board members were elected and sworn in for 2017-2019. Lord Craven member Helen Taylor was  included in the Memorial service. Lord Craven member Pat Gooding is the incoming state treasurer.

 The $1,000 History Scholarship winner Graham Lowder was introduced by State History Scholarship Chairman Carole Weiss. Graham is completing his freshman year at the Honors College of UNC-Chapel Hill, where he is majoring in History and Political Science with a minor in Arabic. He was accompnied by his mother Rinnette Lowder and his grandmother Nanette Godwin.  Graham recognized his grandmother as his favorite Colonial Dame.
